5th June 2026 - Ms Cotter’s class feasted on pizza as a reward for their outstanding contribution to the Penny War

This year’s Penny War collected 155 kilograms of coins for the school and Ms Cotters class collected one fifth of the total! As a reward, the four classes who collected the highest weight of coins in each year group (Ms Kearney’s, Ms Shaw’s, Ms Cotter’s and Ms Hickey’s) were all treated to ice-cream sundae parties in last weeks heat wave! This week, Ms Cotter’s class (as the school winners) enjoyed a banquet of pizza, goujons and chips!

22nd May 2026 - Fifth Class School Tour to Crystal Maze

On Friday 22nd of May, 5th class attended their school tour in Crystal Maze, Kilmainhamwood Co. Meath. When we arrived, each class was introduced to their tour guide. My tour guide’s name was Lauren. Lauren was very helpful as she showed us to our first activity.

We started with (our) riddles and mind games. We earned a few crystals for each game. Next, we moved on to the grass maze. Our challenge was to run into the maze, to one of the coloured flags, and back to Lauren. Here are a few games we earned crystals for: mind games, riddles, maze run, bowling, obstacle course and golf.

Our last activities were the river walk and water games. The river walk is where the fifth class students walked down a slippery river and tried not to fall. You could earn extra crystals at the end by sitting in the cold water! We finished off the challenge with one last water activity which was trying to fill a bucket of water with a plastic cup.

When we all dried off, they announced the fifth class winner which was … Ms Pullen’s Class!

All the fifth class had a great time! We can’t wait for next year’s trip!

6th January 2026- Ms Pullen’s STEM Challenge

Before Christmas our class was given a S.T.E.M challenge by our teacher. The challenge was to make the longest paper chain possible in a group in 15 minutes.

During an indoor break we (Alannah Fagan,Áine Mc Mahon and Sofia Wilson) decided to make a longer paper chain than the one we made during our S.T.E.M challenge.

We made our paper chain using one and a half pieces of A4 paper and set a 20 minute timer. Later, we measured it with our teacher and it turned out to be a whopping 9 metres and 9 centimeters! Our paper chain was nearly the full length of our classroom!

Here are some of our top tips if you would like to try this challenge yourself:

Cut the paper along the long side(length).

Make sure to cut the strips thin. 

 * To make it more fun, give yourself a time limit , e.g. 10 or 20 minutes. 

Look how long the chain is in comparison to the children in our class!
